With the opportunity to create my own convention, I wanted to share my passion for the ocean and those ancient vehicles of competition, commerce and grace: sailboats. Distilling my favorite elements of sailing into three words led me to structure, competition and freedom. The graphic elements in the brochure and the convention organization all speak to the structure of the boats themselves, the skills required to have a competitive edge, and the sheer joy of a full sail on the open ocean. The convention is aimed at landlubbers and salty old timers alike to learn skills, share stories and get a fresh perspective on what is too often seen as an uptight, elitist sport.
